Myself Faithful snackers know this week  á la mode means ready-to-wear, not vanilla on the side. There’s nothing like a fashion show to make you feel old and plus gras in your old navy tank top, but the crowd that lined up last night to see Kai Kuhne’s Myself show at the Altman building was actually quite democratic: investors in suits, petit fashonistas in mary janes and strollers, downtown hipsters, a dog and the odd food writer. Given Kuhne’s reputation for eclectic innovation, I was surprised to find the clothes so…pretty. Military-Chanel-esque designs in a palette of soft spring colors, like beige, white and carnation flitted up and down the runway, inspiring an immediate desire to go on a diet shopping spree.
