We are officially in the fall party season: prime time to launch a book, restaurant or fashion show. One could easily spend every autumn evening going from fête to fête, and so it was last night.

First stop: Ninja. The opening of this latest Tokyo import has been well documented online (first) and in print (later). You really have to see it to believe it, because pictures don’t quite convey the theatrical gastronomy happening here. A word to the curious: you have to have the right esprit to go the way of the ninja. Imagine if an excessively subservient Pirates of the Caribbean ride were a Japanese restaurant. If you like the sound of that, operators are standing by.

Cercle_rouge Next stop: Cercle Rouge. Opening today and already being touted as the Balthazar of Tribeca, online (first) and in print (later).  The party spilled out onto the street in front as the Dixieland band played on.  The three happy Frenchmen pictured (left to right) owner Georges Forgeois, Chef David Feau and Sommelier Fabrice Warin are perhaps the first to create a business plan based on a mutual love of motorcycles and racing (apologizes for the poorly lit slightly off-focus champagne-party-cam). I plan on having many lovely meals ensconced in the round red booth, aka table 50, aka the snackspot.
